Cartridge Prices Beyond a Joke..
Any decent cartridge these days are £160 plus and it’s getting difficult to find any for under a £140
Are we being priced out of shooting, I really think most of us are?

LOL you do make me laugh Kenneth!!If I had volunteered for that one, every bugger would be asking me to do theirs!
TK, were you lucky enough to get any expenses for your Lakenheath trip?Entries or travelling?
EXPENSES! didn’t try at first i wasn’t even allowed to buy my welsh vest.
Apparently your supposed to shoot a home international before you can shoot the world which i havent as i’ve only been shooting clays for about two and a half years, but i finished in the top 4 in the first 4 qualifiers this year which qualified me for the worid.
There was a big argument about it (not involving me )and it was decided if i couldn,t wear the vest none of us would.
But rules for the world are you must wear your countrys vest if representing them.
England shooters who,d never represented their country before had no such problems.
Your shooting that well after two and a half years tk, real respect man
How the hell I beat you at the Counties Sporting final, I have no idea.
Maybe they don’t do XXXXXXXXXXXXXXL Welsh vests????
And to all of you: STOP CALLING ME KENNETH..
Now we know his weak spot!!
Well at the World Skeet in Doveridge last year, there was a certain lady shooter who qualified by doing the required number of qualifiers and she had never shot in a Welsh International but was given a Welsh vest!
EUREKA, well done Angie, so if tk borrows one of your dresses for the Internationals he can also wear a Welsh Vest..
There’s a way around everything, great job.
I was given mine as well (it was specially made out of a red duvet cover kenneth )
AS to the county final i always do my bit for charity and it was help the aged week,i was also suffering from my dismount or flinch then i,ve got rid of it now
Met my match with this one..
Theres nowhere in the rules that state that you must shoot in a Home International to purchase a Welsh vest ONLY that you must have represented your Country which you had by shooting for Wales in the World Championships which surely is a bigger event than the home Internationals!!! So did you actually get to buy your vest? Did you get your Welsh blazer badge and tie??And that entitles you to buy the polo shirts as well
I did buy my vest and polo shirt but no tie or badge i guess i’ll get them when i shoot the home nations.
More than likely…but its a disgrace that you were told you couldn’t wear the vest to start with!!
I,ve got a question here for BC seeing as he,s a shooting coach.
I,m guessing you shoot a beretta seeing as you shot beretta world at meon springs.
I currently shoot a beretta 32 inch beretta 682 gold E but a few people have said i ought to get a dt 10 because they balance better ,have a better trigger pulls and have better pointability but would this help put a few extra birds on the card?
You could answer this as well ken seeing as you,ve got 62 trophy,s
Why would I help someone who does nothing but insult me day after day. My advice is invaluable as my mate George Digweed only knows too well
I taught him all he knows, and did he share with me his lorry load of price money, NO!!! the stingy bugger.
dt 10 is a good gun but pointability is down to barrel length. 32 is easier to point than a 27.
the gold e have very light barrels which allow you to swing as though it was a 30 whereas the dt10 is a heavier barrel so will slow them down a bit.
a lot depends on the way you shoot and where you hold the forend.
trigger pulls??? its a shotgun not a rifle so no need for elaborate setups (imo)if its not to your liking get it tuned a bit.
dt 10’s are popular because fauldsy shoots one. people tend to buy them thinking they will be like him if they get one. bit like kreighof, more a status symbol.
as for ballance, you can alter that very easily by just adding an ounce or two in the stock which will make it more barrel lively, or a barrel weight which will make it feel a tad front heavy and usually slows it down.
personal pref as usual on all guns. if you can shoot the gun you have now reasonably well, keep it and learn to shoot better with it.
thanks for that Brian i might try a barrel weight on the barrel if it slows it up a bit most of the targets i miss are usually in front espesially quartering away targets which most people find quite easy.
Any idea where they can be purchased from for a 682?
Thanks bc, that was exactly what I was going to say
As to you learning to shoot better, I’d say your results speak for themselves tk..
Barrel weights are universal and will fit almost any barrel. If your in Mid Wales on Sunday, I’d ask Jonathan if they sell them.
Might be there myself, if I can remember how to hold a gun..
tk. try holding an inch or 2 farther down the forend as this will slow you down a bit.
Yes now i know angie,s in DEVON i should be safe.
making a come back are you ken?
To make a comeback first you must come
No smutty jokes you dirty buggers..
I’d be there for the Mid Wales Breakfast and a bit of fun..
I was speaking to Arthur from mid wales he,s heard your coming down ken so he,s made a large swear box recons he,ll make a fortune, apparently if you lose you start swearing at your mates,i said no the old boy’s not like that he’s a nice elderley gent to which he replied should have heard him at griffin lloyd
If I can make a little contribution here boys…I know someone who bought a DT10 32, and it was the best thing that happened to his skeet shooting! and 32 is not really a skeet gun length!I know we’re not talking skeet but the same principles apply. It was pointable and steady and shot his 1st 100 straight with it!He reckoned it was smooth and with the weight, he never rushed his targets……but hey what do I know…I’m just a girlie who just might go to Mid Wales this w-end!!
yep. heavier barrels slow you down. smoooooooooooth is the key to most shooting.
Thought you were off for a dirty weekend in devon angie!
Hmmm might see if johnathon’s got a DT 10 i can try out.
Where’s our kenneth tonight practicing his dry mounting perhaps!
Never practice, no need to
Shot a local sporting shoot today, the first in a long time and came second on 37/50. The winner was, Keith Hotshot Hill on a great 40.
He’s such a good shot he really should try for the Welsh team. After only shooting 50 birds last month, I was quite happy with my performance.
Won’t be going tomorrow as I’ve had a very expensive week with my daughter’s graduation from University.
Good luck to the rest of you though, hope the weather stays fair for you all.
Shame that out of 96 sporting shooters at the qualifier, it was down to our Web Master to put a report in just using the scores! Why was it left to him??
FACT, Welsh shooters are a lazy lot..
This blog has been going for a long time now, loads of visitors but very few contributors.
Even my own team mates can’t be bothered..
Well done Dave Lea, your doing a grand job mate.
when i grow up i want to be in your team ken.
Fairplay that must be a record the scores had been updated and put on the wctsa web page by 9.30 sunday night.well done!
They were nearly on there before i got home
Sorry bc, your shooting doesn’t reach the required standard to make my team. As to growing up, it will never happen
How did you get on tk?
Gwynedd’s Keith Hill got an 81 and was joint 8th.
only managed 77 cracking shoot though with good variaty of targets .
Trickey is probabley the best way to describe it especially the flying rabbit which caught nearley everyone out including me didn’t touch one of them and still can’t work out where you had to be on it did keith hit any?
I know of 3 people who were on for 90 plus’s with just that stand to shoot and came off with 85 85 81
I think he was top score on that one on an 8.
Strange that…I thought the sporting discipline was meant to replicate real life birds/animals ie pheasant, crow, duck, teal, rabbit…but Ive never seen a flying rabbit!!! Keith should have tried for the Team!
Keith is trying for the team!! He’s shot 4 qualifiers already.
He needs one more good score and he’s got a great chance of making the team.
He’s asked me for a lesson, but I don’t come cheap
Ive heard that you don’t come cheap!!He does need to drop two pretty big scores which shouldnt be that hard…fingers crossed for him! And he tells me today he’d like to try for the skeet team next yr as well!!
The skeet was my idea, glad he’s finally listened.
There’s three or four Gwynedd shooters whose average at skeet is good enough to make the team.
Yet the fact that none of the qualifiers are held in the North does have a bearing on why no one has tried for the team thus far.
The nearest qualifiers are at Mid Wales, but having two on the same weekend means a very costly weekend as you need to stay overnight somewhere close.
Hopefully next yr will see Llandegla come back in so it will mean a stopover for some of us down here. But bear in mind you DONT have to do both days but obviously it will reduce the number of shoots so if they have two weekends the number of shoots would be reduced to 6 if you only did one day on each weekend.Looks like telpyn wont be in it next yr so that will leave just 3 grounds
TK…were they your photos you sent to Dave Lea?
Why won’t Telpyn be taking part next year then?
He says he doesnt want any competitions there next yr
Yes thought i’d make a contribution, well the mrs had to acctually send them to Dave lea as i’m not very computer literate might take the camera along to a few more shoots i could be the new David Bailey of the sporting shoots.
Anyone know why the home internationals (sporting) have been moved from lakenheath to Barrow heath.
no still keeping my ear to the ground on that bit of news. Well done on the piccies..you made our web administrator a happy man that someone from the sporting fraternity could be bothered so well done to you and the Mrs….trust a woman to be behind it tho!!Still think she could help you do a profile!!
Still cant get to the bottom of Lakenheath. Apparently they are still showing it on their website…so don’t know!
