Skeet Final Pics and Report.

Here’s a few pictures from the skeet County Final taken on my old crappy camera.

I apologies that most are of Gwynedd shooters, but they all wanted their ugly mugs on my website ;-)
Report to follow when I get a chance.

Apologies because some pics are blurred by condensation in camera.

2nd Gwynedd Skeet and Sporting Qualifiers, Dyfi Valley 28-02-10

Skeet.

We arrived at Dovey Valley in glorious sunshine, with no sign of the promised heavy rain.
After a hearty breakfast the first squad headed down to the skeet range, whilst the other two squads shot the sporting layout.
The skeet proved to be very problematic for the first squad with the low bird having a one to two second delay, which made it virtually impossible to shoot the pairs on stations 4,6, and 7.
It was strange calling for the bird and to see the high bird sailing past before the low bird left the low house. After the round the referee found that the newly charged battery was a duff and duly replaced it for the following rounds.
For those of you who have shot the Skeet at Dovey Valley, you will know that it is probably one of the hardest layouts in the country with a background that makes it extremely hard to pick up and follow the line of the bird. This reflected in the scores with most people shooting far below their usual average.
The exception to this were Gwyn Richards and Keith Hill, who shot a 46 and 45 respectively, and the 46 was enough for Gwyn to win the Captaincy this year following his high gun score at the first qualifier. Well done Gwyn, now you owe us all a pint (shandy for me of course).

Skeet top ten Scores were as follows:

Gwyn Richards 46
Keith Hill 45
Bob Carter 44
Elgan Pugh 43
Glyn Jones 42
Gerallt Jones 42
Ken Griffiths 41
Dennis Evans 41
Sion Evans 40
Anthony Lowe 40

Top 5 positions after the first 2 qualifiers are:
1/ Gwyn Richards (0), (High Gun 1st and 2nd Qualifiers)
2/ Keith Hill (+4)
3/ Elgan Pugh (+5)
4/ Ken Griffiths (+6)
5/Glyn Jones (+7)

Sporting.

The Sporting layout was well though out, with a good mixture of targets to test even the best shot.
50 birds over 7 stands using all the fantastic landscape that Dovey is renowned for.
At the end the scores reflected the testing targets with many shooters going home disappointed.
Well done to Sion Evans our one and only colt, who finished on a fantastic score of 35 once again beating his dad by 7 whole birds.
