Don’t just watch, please Leave A Comment when you visit.
Yesterday I had 174 visitors to my blog yet only one (Angie) left a comment.
As I live way up North I depend on shooters from the South to provide information about their area.
What did you think of the Skeet Final at Mid Wales?
Where do you like to shoot and why?
What do you think of the WCTSA?
Who are your shooting friends?
Are you looking forward to the Sporting Final?
I really don’t mind what you say, so long as you please say something
Or leave a comment on my Forum where you can see whose online:

Thats probably coz I’m too gobby!! Does anyone have any comments about how the day went on Sunday at the final and I really don’t mind if they’re good or bad, I’m a big girl and I can take it the chin and I’m always looking at ways to make changes for the better. And me personally can’t wait for the County Final…its not so much hard work compared to the Skeet Final, but just as much fun.
Hope to see some of you shooters at SW2000 over the week-end for the start of the Welsh skeet qualifiers
I’m in two minds about carrying on with this site Angie.
It’s been going now for around 2 months yet the people who visit won’t take part in the banter.
At the very least, I thought that my fellow County Shooters would join in, yet only 3 have done so.
A blog is there for it’s members to have their say, be it positive, negative, or any kind of comment.
Hi any one out there shoot the opening Welsh Sporting Qualifier last Monday at Brondai?
A testing shoot made even more difficult by the very high winds, only managed a 69 myself Congratulations to P Humphreys and M Rees who i believe managed to jointly win on 77,
A very enjoyable shoot dispite the weather conditions.
Unsure of any other scores for the day, hopefully they’ll be out soon.
Gwent Sporting Championships 100 reg is being held at St Dials Monmouth this Sunday 11th April 10 til 2.30
Thanks TK for taking the time to comment.
Much appreciated
Winning a sporting qualifier on a 77, it must have been a really hard shoot. Your score of 69 must have been high up on the scoreboard, well done indeed.
I like Brondai as a ground but it’s an awful long way from us in Gwynedd, therefore we only go there once or twice a year.
Only shot there 3 times myself, but each time found it enjoyable giving a wide variety of targets.I think it would have been a hard enough shoot without the wind which made some of the crossing targets look like they were going up and down a staircase and on one stand a left to right rabbit the wind actually stopped the gun causing a miss behind then on the second following target a right to left crosser it gave me an extra 3 feet of lead which unfortunately wasn’t required .
Blimey, those are the kind of conditions where long barrels are a disadvantage.
Sounds good fun though, and I’m hoping the County Sporting Final Next weekend at Griffin Lloyd will be just as good.
yes looking forward to Griffin Lloyd if i make the Gwent team ,it’s quite a close competition this year, won’t know for sure until tommorow it;s our last qualifier at st dial’s.
The only draw back with Griffin Lloyd which is a lovely ground is that they never vary the targets, seem to be the same year after year.
The one stand I hate at Griffin Lloyd is that high pair of driven they have. Bloody dangerous for people watching as the bits fall on the road.
Not good when your county captain.
I just can’t hit those so my clays will sail by intact
Powys shooters have a massive advantage there as they’ve shot those very same birds many times.
Thats why I like to go to MW as Jonathon wont let them practice.Who knows maybe this year JK will put something different on. Question for all skeet and sporting County shooters…..If the Finals where at Telpyn or SW2000, would you travel to them?
just got back from st dial’s where the topic of discussion was next week’s final and how some of the targets ain’t changed for 10 years.I don’t know if this is true only been shooting couple of years, but some of the powy’s boy’s were having a good laugh saying they knew which targets they were having and would be practising during the week.Never been to telpyn but would go there if sporting final was there or do they only shoot skeet?
Telpyn’s skeet only Tony (unless it’s changed).
Would I travel to Telpyn or South Wales 2000, probably not now fuel’s so expensive.
Don’t fancy spending 10 hours in a car either
Mid Wales is a 170 mile round trip and we shoot all our qualifiers there.
most of the gwynedd team would travel down south for the finals, would the shooters from the south travel to dovey valley and llandegla?
in my opinion the finals should stay in a central popsition like mid wales and griffin lloyd.
Dovey Valley is more in Mid Wales, and they have no interest in holding Finals.
I’m sure that under the new management Llandegla would hold a final, but I doubt if the majority of Southern shooters would travel there.
Lllandegla’s 5 miles nearer than Mid Wales for us Gwynedd (Pen Llyn) shooters.
It’s a fact that there’s a lot more choice in decent grounds down South.
we also had this discusion today the general opinion was that it should be moved around wales not only the final but also the qualifiers rather than all be held on 3 grounds.unfortunataly fuel costs are a problem so we normally travell 4 to a car as quite a lot of our shooting is done in England as these are nearer apart from st dial’s.Don’t tend to use sw 2000 as sporting to unreliable only 2 stands in 5 working last sunday for instance.
julian morris still in fine form shooting a winning score of 90 today at st dials pity he shoots for powy’s Ha HA
I take it you live in South East Wales tk?
If I lived in North East Wales there would be plenty of choice in shooting grounds just over the border.
As it is living in North West Wales we have no choice but to travel long distances or give up shooting.
Julian Morris is a hell of a good shot, does anyone know if he’s an International?
No julian’s not an interntional yet but i think he will be this year he’s going for the Welsh team.
Yes i live about 20 miles from monmouth so we have some good grounds within one and a half hours including Mid Wales ,Griffin Lloyd ,St Dial’s ,Longridge ,Westfield and Dovey Valley at about two hours it’s just a pity i can’t shoot straight.
I’m sure your not that bad
Great to have such a choice in grounds though.
Do you shoot all disciplines or do you stick to skeet and sporting?
Julian’s got no problem in making the Welsh team if he carries on shooting like he does now..
Wish I had that kind of skill, I was just too old when I started shooting.
Only shoot sporting really ,have shot little bit of skeet which i enjoyed, shot an All Round for the first time at MID WALES last month North V South really enjoyed that shot a 91 like to try it again but there doesn’t seem to be much of it going on or is it seasonal.
North verses South All-Round Shoot!!!!
Didn’t hear about that one.
I love all-round as you need to be good at all disciplines to have a chance of winning.
I’ll tell you one thing, a 91 first time round is bloody brilliant
You sure your a beginner TK ????
Been shooting since i was 17 ,42 now but only took up clay shooting about two and a half years ago spent most of my time rough, crow and pigeon shooting, good practice though i suppose.I,m gutted didn,t start earlier got some bad habbits now.
sorry just checked it was FEB 20 at MID WALES doesn,t time fly
Does someone know something that I don’t?? How can Julian Morris shoot for Wales if he doesn’t fit the eligibility rules? Last I heard was that only his Grandparents were Welsh and not his parents thereby making him ineligible to shoot for Wales. I’m pretty sure someone has been giving Julian duff info! Regards GL’s targets….why doesn’t the sporting rep ask JK to change the targets…isn’t that what they’re there to do…represent the sporting shooters!!
I always thought that living at a Welsh Address for so many years made you eligible for the Welsh team, whatever nationality you were born?
Goes to show how little most of us know about the rules.
You are right …its a minimum consecutive period of 2yrs which I don’t think Julian has done or else I think we would have heard about him before now, don’t you think?
I don’t know wether the rules are the same for county and country but julian is the Powys captain this year.
I had very little chance of winning the captains cup before, now I know I have no chance whatsoever.
Thanks TK for cheering me up
County rules are different to Country rules
It’s pretty annoying when you see lots of visitors and nobody commenting! I get it a lot on my site too. Some cool videos on here
Cheers Adam
I agree totally with you and I’ve been close to calling it a day a few times.
I’ll check your site out, sounds great..
http://mywales.info/
Great site you have there.
I see your a greenkeeper just like my brother (and my dad and oldest brother before).
He’s a greenkeeper at what is one of the best grounds in North Wales (I might be biased though), Nefyn Golf Club..
