The biggest, best, most thrilling shoot North Wales has ever seen was held today at the new Gwyndegla shooting ground.
A 100 bird shoot set up by the well known course setter Gwyn ‘Hotshot’ Richards, set the scene for a thrilling shoot, with the best shooters from around the world flying in, to take part.
Two shooters came from overseas (Anglesey) hoping to win what will become the pinnacle of the Welsh Shooting Calendar.
Sporting and G.S.A.B.T. in the morning, a curry and Lobscows dinner cooked by the well know Michelin Starred chef Elfyn ‘Slim’ Richards, and 50 skeet in the afternoon.
The sporting had a mixture of difficult stands and nearly impossible stands that soon sorted out the wheat from the chaff, (or Chav as in Dave Jones’s case).
The Gwyn’s Special A.B.T. was a new discipline that all shooters enjoyed, and was won by Father Christmas (or W.G. as his friends know him) on a superb 8/10.
Top lady shot Sue ‘Luscious Lips’ Gaunton rose to the top of the ladies scoreboard with a fantastic 23 out of 50 which I believe is a new record for her ![]()
Top shot in the morning was Keith ‘Automatic’ Hill with a superb 43, followed by Gwyn Hotshot Richards on 40, with Ken ‘Beretta’ Griffiths and Father Christmas (W.G) on 39.
Top junior was Rhys ‘I Love Barry’ Davies on 34, well done Rhys, Barry will be very proud.
So scores in the morning were as follows:
Keith 43, Gwyn 40, Ken 39, Meic 35, Rhys 34, Robin ‘Two Left Hands’ 32, Dave ‘chav’ Jones 27, Elfyn ‘Slim’ Richards 25, Hefin 25, J.R. 23, Sue 23, Roger 23, and Barry ‘I love Rhys’ Hughes on a big fat 0.
The lunch was a veritable feast, served by the wonderful Richards Family under the stewardship of chef Elfyn ‘Slim’ Richards, our thanks to them all for their hard work
In the afternoon the skeet was severely affected by the strong wind (not from Robin’s arse this time) from behind the high house, which made for very unpredictable birds.
3 shooters managed to shoot a 44, Keith Hill, Ken Griffiths, and Gwyn Richards, followed by Robin ‘two left hands’ on 40, and Dave and Elfyn on 36.
Scores at the end of the day stood as follows:
High Gun Keith Hill on 87, Gwyn Richards 84, Ken Griffiths, 83, Father Christmas 73, Robin 72, Meic 70, Rhys 68, Dave 63, Elfyn 61, Hefin 60, J.R. 57, Sue 57, Roger 48, and bringing up the rear Barry Hughes on a 25.

good day then ken.. i see you didnt win again. lol. next time eh.
I took pity on Keith and Gwyn who never seem to win anything
So I deliberately missed 5 single birds on the skeet to give them a chance of the big time.
How did you get on at Fauxdegla?
thats tomorrow. ill let you know. not shot for 2 months so bare with me.
Odds on you’ll win it, just you see..
Your score.. 89..
Looks like you had loads of fun!
It was a great day, made better as everyone were good friends
The Richards Family are so welcoming and friendly..
Apart from Gwyn, who cheats
Now,now…no bitching girls!!
You know this new bird established rule in skeet Angie, should it apply to everyone apart from those called Gwyn??
So come on Angie who won the skeet (ENGLAND i would guess)what did you shoot ,juniors ?
Why would she shoot the juniors tk???
She shot at a hundred clays and hit 90 of them..
Just my guess, wonder how close I was
i,ve also been in touch with julie hart (st dials) who said scores have been sent to Brian davies .
contacted Brian he said he sends the welsh scores in twice per year so thats why they are not on the cpsa site shorley this could be changed seeing as WCTSA hasn,t got it’s own scores page.
Any welsh qualifiers shot at mid wales are on the cpsa site within days so i guess they must send them direct and not through the wctsa !!
I wish you boys would come along to the AGM and then you can put these points to the board! The web master did explain to me that the programme you need for grounds to send scores straight thro is REALLY expensive so all our stuff has to be done by hand!
England def won the seniors, I think Wales seniors can 4th! Deena took overall ladies HG with a 92 I only managed an 86 which was pretty disgraceful but when you look at the others ladies it was in keeping, just hard shoot with the wind etc and bear in mind the problems we had had with the ground.
I wonder how long it will take for the report to appear on the WCTSA site?
There’s already a report on there !Angie must have friends in high places
Where?
I can’t see a report on the skeet!!!
It says that the August news has been updated on the 29th, but the last report is about St Dials..
it,s on there above the st dials report saying about deena winning overall high gun
not a report as such
I’ve checked about a dozen times and there’s nothing showing..
Strange
Just refreshed the page again, and now it’s showing..
Not much of a report thou..
I’m shore there’ll be a full report along with photo’s in the next few days!!
Don’t go slatting the web master tho boys, that report was submitted by Deena herself and not the Rep…not sure about the self flattery bit myself! Its was Ladies overall HG not the overall HG….4 countries submitted ladies teams Wales being one of them
I hope one of you lot got me a polo shirt and cap from Fauxdegla at the w-end…Ive seen them, they are great!Well done Mike!
Submitted by herself hmmmmm, not sure if I could have done that!
I got a Gwyndegla skeet vest, it’s full of holes..
Well bc, how did you get on???
